It has reliable orange and red fall color. At maturity, this tree produces light pink flowers in the spring and small chartreuse fruit in the summer. Over time, this tree will develop scaly and fissured bark. This species responds well to bonsai techniques.

Specimen description: This crabapple is being trained in a slanting style. It has a multitude of branches, giving it a suitable foundation to develop into a bonsai of any size. This specimenhas nearly radial roots which will continue to develop into an impressive nebari as it ages. We have been developing the new trunk section so that the future artist can cut back to the new leader this season, developing trunk taper.
