Species description: The Ponderosa Pine is an iconic Rocky Mountain evergreen prized for its distinctive bark, long needles, and timeless bonsai character. Native to western North America, it develops a strong trunk and refined branching, making it a favorite among bonsai artists.
Specimen description: This Ponderosa is a Rocky Mountain yamadori collected in 2022. It is well established for container growing and put out strong candle growth this year. This particular specimen has a rugged yet graceful trunk and has already had one initial styling. It is ready to be further refined by the future artist.
USDA zones: 3-7
Light requirements: Full sun
Watering requirements: Water thoroughly, allowing the top layer of soil to dry between waterings
