Species description: One of the most popular species for bonsai, trident maples respond very well to leaf reduction and ramification techniques. A soft grey bark contrasts with the vibrant green of the summer leaves and rich red of the fall leaves. Trident maples will need proper winter protection.

Specimen description: This tree has had its trunk chopped twice, resulting in taper development and graceful movement. The resulting scars from the cut backs will be closed next year and unnoticeable within a few years. It has had the washer nebari forming technique applied with one side responding well. The back side where the tree did not form roots can be improved by either scarification or a couple of grafts. The tree has been intentionally left with a multitude of branching options for the future artist to decide on. This tree ships dormant.
